Dictatorship
Well, do you always come across the ambiguity at the time of the elections? Does the question of voting the right candidate torment your mind? This is the present day scenario and we all come across the same question while deciding the rulers of our race. The present epoch speaks of mainly two kinds of leaderships - dictatorship and democracy. Dictatorships are typically a kind of political system or a leadership that is often ruled by a single ruler or a group of elite people in the society. A lot of countries in the past have been through such a ruling system and we have harsh memories attached to dictatorship with rulers like Hitler.
The most popular dictatorship was that of Napoleon in the year 1799 in France. However, a lot of people have started believing that it is the preferred form of leadership as it makes the political system pretty efficient. The principle of one authority into the government speeds the decision making process by a great deal as very few people are involved. The extremity of nationalism often reaps huge benefits on the military and the economical fronts. The rulers are the ones that vouch for discipline, authority and more often than not nationalism. But the history says that such a leadership system has frequently led to violence, tyranny of the community, and some great necessities for changes to the ruling system. Dictatorship happens mostly when a nation is financially and politically unpredictable. The leader here or the leading group formulates the new policies and then makes sure that the general masses abide by them forcibly and in an instructed manner. Back then in the communist rule, it was important for every male in the family to undergo military training as the communists or the dictators usually considered military as an important element of their nation. They had to pass the laws forcefully and then help in multiplying the forces of these dictators. The Russian Soviet Union was the one to experience the strictest of the dictatorship from the early nineties to 1985. The rulers then were Vladimir Lenin and then came Stalin. Both strongly propagated the control of one ruling body for all aspects of the nation, be it political or financial. Hence the after effects were that the people of USSR saw a rapid change in the industrial development and also ended up winning the Second World War. It also brought about an enhanced literacy ratio.
Democracy and its History
On the other side of the coin, Democracy is usually made up by the people and is therefore called the multi party leadership system. It is the system that has its base on civil rights and consequently its political liberties. This kind of a system provides equality in politics along with a liberty to the higher standard of living. It more or less governs accountability. It’s the “people” that decide the policies that tend to work the best for them. It was firstly introduced in the Greek city of Athens. It started with the idea back then in Greece that only men could vote. Hence, they recognized the first model of democracy. They carried out the voting for every issue that was raised in the community. They recognized two ruling parties and no party was able to have more power than the other. This brought the sense of responsibility amongst each of the citizen and thus decision making and enforcing became the duties of the residents. Since it’s the people that make these decisions, the government doesn’t have much of a problem following and maintaining the rules. A great example of the democracy is the United States of America, and it has been following democracy ever since it has been formed as a government. This kind of political system offers the same power to all its branches from judicial to executive. It’s the people who select the legislatives and the senators.
A large number of laws that are prepared in elected systems replicate the visions of the civilians. It strongly propagates that anyone, who is a citizen of the country and above the age of eighteen has the right to choose its own leader. Hence, thereafter the ballot system was identified. The political bodies were more accountable and the public had all the right to display complains against the government and in turn steps had been taken to resolve grumbles. Regular set of rules were formed for various disputes and these laws were usually formed based on the opinion of the public, the constitution was born. Those who happen to believe that dictatorship was more efficient have probably never experienced the tortures of living a life in accordance to one particular individual or group. Democracies were really instrumental in bringing about a better standard of living by meeting the needs of the people in an appropriate manner. There isn’t any violence in the democracy as compared to the dictatorship where a lot of people had to die in order to exercise a new rule. This happens solely because democracy is existent at the wish of the people themselves. Countries like the United States, Sweden and Canada have successfully been implementing the democratic system and have been giving the freedom of choice to their citizens. With the freedom available, it also brought about some downsides. There were superfluous accounts of ethnic diversity, alcohol and later came the massive drug abuse. The democracy is yet to exercise strict standards for these kinds of downfalls of the human order. This is the reason why a lot of countries are still adopting the dictator policy. The nineties witnessed the independence of a lot of countries across the globe and looking at the success of the United States and the standard of living it offers, they all turned towards a democratic rule. They all formed democracies in their respective countries and are still on their way on being established as strongly as its counterparts. The World has seen tremendously low number of wars after the democracy was incepted.
