The’ BlackBerry Enterprise Solution’ comprises of various tools that facilitate business professionals with an access to the wireless information and communication network. This facility also includes features like messaging and collaboration. This can be achieved with e-mail, instant-messaging, calendars, address books, and many other tasks. The system also provides an access to the enterprise data, and personal productivity tools. A key element of the RIM’s enterprise platform is the “BlackBerry Enterprise Server” is an important element of the RIIM. This enhances the capabilities of device management and “push” wireless e-mail on BlackBerrys.

Basic objective of this updating and improving of the ‘BlackBerry Enterprise Server’ and ‘BlackBerry device software’ would be to introduce improvements in the messaging and productivity tools on’ BlackBerry Smartphone’. Among several other features that have been improved, one feature elevates the usability level. This update will facilitate the user to download and edit ‘Microsoft Office Word’, ‘PowerPoint’, and’ Excel ‘documents on the Smartphone.

RIM introduced a remote e-mail search on the Smartphone to enable the users retrieve e-mails from servers even if they’re no longer stored on BlackBerrys. Its users have also been enabled to check the availability of their co-workers in advance in order to fix up a meeting. In addition to all these facilities, the users who are running ‘IBM Lotus Sametime’ and ‘Microsoft Live Communications Server’ will have improved address book integration, according to RIIM.

HTML and rich text e-mail rendering are other additional features that have been provided to the users. Users can now view their emails in HTML and with original formatting like images, hyperlinks, tables, and bullets.

RIIM has also provided a new software component of the ‘BlackBerry Enterprise Server’ in order to facilitate the administrators with better monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and reporting capabilities. The ‘BlackBerry Monitoring Service’ will be a part of the next release of the ‘BlackBerry Enterprise Server’, according to the company.

‘BlackBerry’ users can also download RIM’s free software called ‘BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager’. This free facility will help in installing the software on ‘BlackBerry Smartphones’ from any desktop Web browser.

Improvised security is an integrated part of this updating. This includes the facility of viewing the attachments within encrypted PGP and S/MIME messages, administrator control over GPS functionality on BlackBerrys, and administrator control of Bluetooth profiles.
All these updates by RIM will be available in software releases sometime during the first half of this year
