Microsoft started the worldwide open sale for its ‘Visual Studio 2008″, the software development package on Tuesday. This beginning of sale comes almost a month ahead of its predictions about officially launching the product in the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas recently.
Microsoft named the event as “Heroes Happen Here” and announced that the occasion will also include the official launching of its “Windows server 2008″ and “SQL Server 2008″ along with the “Visual Studio2008″.
The company however, made a shift in its strategy last week and announced that the launch of its much awaited “SQL server 2008″ will be delayed until the fall. It has also made clear that the next month will be witnessing the official launch of “Windows Server 2008.” Keeping this anticlimax in view, the company found it as most appropriate to start with selling the “Visual Studio 2008″ which was just waiting for an announcement.
Microsoft’s strategy is revolving around the sale and shipping of this new product with its a little early beginning, as it would compensate the impacts of delay in the launch of “SQL server2008.” Fiscal year based projections also made this necessary in the overall interests of the company.
“Visual Studio 2008″ will provide an integrated web designing and development environment to the programmers and web developers around the world with a variety of tools. These features including multiple tools will help in creating the useful applications for the Microsoft’s Windows operating system as well as the Internet applications.
Microsoft claims that the latest version of the product, the”Visual Studio 2008,” contains a number of new and improved enhancements compared to all the previous versions of the software. For instance the ” Visual Studio 2005″ features certain specific tools that facilitate the web developers build applications with versions 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 of the’ .Net programming’ environment will now be having an improved HTML editors and ‘Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). In addition to that, other tools facilitate development of programs that are compatible with the latest version of Microsoft Office.
Price of the complete set of Professional Edition of “Visual Studio 2008″ is about $730. The Standard Edition of the product has a price of about $270. The software can now be purchased directly from the retailers and the Internet marketers.
