Google on Friday released the beta version of its latest upgrade of the “Web Analytics” software. This on-premise specific software is dedicated for the organizations wherein the online analytics services of the search engines are not preferred in general.

“Urchin Software”, this another version, is almost similar in its scope to the “Google Analytics”. This software is operated on the server of an organization. Google’s new beta version is now open for general evaluation. It is however not recommended by the company for production environments.

“Urchin Software”, like its previous version, the “Urchin 5”, has also been designed specifically for the organizations that are having their content behind a firewall curtain. Such types of organizations may also have certain restrictions in place with the applications of various online services.

This new software is also extremely useful for the performing of ‘ad hoc historical processing’ for the purposes of storing the ‘Web Analytics’ the local servers of the organizations and “for gathering data for third-party audits”, according to Google.

There are several other improvements that have been induced in this “Urchin Software”. It imbibes features like geo-based website visitors identification system, options with cross-segmentations, extra-ordinarily improvised scheduler for managing processing and reprocessing jobs as an embedded facility, and a user centric interface.

The new software will also include features like an e-commerce and market oriented campaign tracking system. The previous version, ‘Urchin 5’ will be requiring additional modular up gradations for making it functional.

In comparison to the ‘Google Analytics’, the ‘Urchin Software’ is little more different in functions and operation. The organizations who intend to perform hosting and managing this software on their own would also be required to configure this product accordingly.

They will also have to schedule a complete log file depending upon their own requirements.

This software however, does not include the ultra-recent improved interface along with the capabilities related with the email reporting system that have been added to the “Google Analytics”. It will be available for general use in the month of May this year. “Google Analytics” is presently available with no cost.

A 90-day version of the improved “Urchin Software” can be easily downloaded from the website directly. Once the beta version phase will be over, this new product is expected to have a price tag of around $2,995.
